St. Louis

We love St. Louis! Our metro area is home to nearly three million people. Its rich history and distinct cultures have blended to make it one-of-a-kind. It is known for being family-friendly, livable, and affordable. It is also known for its history, arts, and industry. St. Louis has melded cultures since its establishment in 1764, creating a vibrant local culture. Its musical, theatrical, and artistic institutions thrive in both large institutions like the symphony or art museum but also in smaller-scale, more intimate venues. St. Louis is a foodie’s dream. Indeed, Food and Wine magazine in 2022 named St. Louis as its readers’ choice for the next great food city. Whether you’re eating from a taco truck, an Italian trattoria, a ramen shop, or a farm-to-table establishment, St. Louis’s chefs do not disappoint.

St. Louis also ranks highly on national lists for livability. Regardless of where one works in the city or county, most commuters can get to work in under 20 minutes. St. Louis is home to major businesses such as Boeing, Anheuser-Busch, Edward Jones, Centene, Enterprise, and Panera Bread. Tech incubators and start-ups have turbo-charged innovation in our city in recent years, as have our colleges and universities. Between the city and county, St. Louis is also home to nearly twenty institutions of higher education, including major research institutions, a historically black university, seminaries, and smaller liberal arts institutions. We have cultural opportunities on par with those in much larger cities—yet without the long waits and large crowds. The region’s many parks, museums, libraries, and entertainment venues thrive. And, of course, we are a sports town. We are fiercely loyal to our St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals, and—although they just completed their first season—our new St. Louis City major league soccer team.

Overall, St. Louis compares very favorably to other U.S. cities in its amenities and especially in its very reasonable cost of living. Our congregants come from across the St. Louis metropolitan region to worship with us.
